Before you begin the application process, there are a few things you should do to prepare yourself.
1. Know important deadlines
We offer specific deadlines for each term of entry, but you should not wait until the deadline. You do not need all of your final scores or school results to start the application process. First, you fill out and submit the online application. Then you will complete your application when you submit all supporting documentation.
All applications submitted after these deadlines listed above will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
2. Research academic programs
We recommend you learn about IUPUC's academic programs so you can better complete the "Academic Goals" section of our application. Exploring our majors will give you a better idea as to what we offer and if we offer the major you are interested in.
If we do not offer the full major you plan to study, you can always start at IUPUC and then transfer to another insitution such as IUPUI.
Degrees & majors
There are several steps you’ll take to complete your application for admission. We cannot process your application until we have received all your application materials, so be sure to submit everything as soon as possible. If your application is incomplete, it will delay the review process.
1. Complete and submit the IU Shared Application
The application includes a $60 application fee. The application fee is non-refundable.
2. Submit any additional required documentation
You will submit your supporting documents via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will receive a confirmation email within five business days.
2a. Official academic records
You must submit full and complete academic records from every secondary school and university/post-secondary institution you have attended. Your records should also include any coursework currently in progress. Failure to submit all academic documents will result in the automatic withdrawal of your application.
If your school is from one of these countries and the school issued the official transcript in English, then submit the English copies. If your original academic records are not issued in English, submit both the copies of your original records in the native language and copies that have been translated into English by an official translation agency.
In order to complete this step, you may mail us your original documents, or you may submit electronic copies of your records by attaching them to the “Submit Academic Records” form in iStart.
While we can accept an electronic of your records to make an admission decision, once you are admitted you will be required to submit the official, original records in order to verify their authenticity. All documents submitted become the property of Indiana University.
Transcript evaluations by Credential Evaluation agencies are NOT necessary.
2b. Proof of English proficiency
If you are a non-native speaker, please review our undergraduate standards for English proficiency requirements.
If you have copies of your exam results, you may upload an electronic version through iStart. Or you can have the results sent to IUPUC directly from the testing service using the following school codes:
IUPUC school codes:
- SAT: 4216
- ACT: 6732
- TOEFL (iBT): 7281
If you are a Native Speaker of English and a citizen from a country listed below, you do not need to complete this step.
- Citizen of a country where English is the predominant native language
- Citizen of a country recognized by IUPUC for TOEFL exemption
2c. SAT and ACT test scores
If you attended secondary school in a U.S. or Canadian high school and plan to enter IUPUC within six months of graduation, you are required to submit official SAT or ACT scores.
If you attended secondary school outside of the U.S. or Canada, SAT or ACT scores are not required for admission. Be sure to have your official scores sent directly to IUPUI by using the following School Codes.
However, we highly encourage you to submit SAT or ACT results, since they are required for scholarship consideration and can also be used as proof of English Proficiency.
2d. Financial documentation (for Visa purposes)
Since you will need a student visa in order to enroll at IUPUC, you must submit financial documentation verifying your ability to pay your tuition and living expenses for up to one year.
2e. Explanation of times since last school attended
If you plan to enroll at IUPUC more than 3 months after you graduate from secondary school, you will need to give us short explanation of what you have done with your time since graduation.
In order to complete this step, you must fill out the “Submit Explanation of Time since Last School/Intuition Attended” form in iStart.
2f. Clarification of present Visa status
We want to make sure that we issue you the correct immigration documentation.
If you are currently in the US, it’s important that you complete the “Submit Clarification of your Present Visa Status” form on iStart. You will be asked to submit copies of your current I-20, I-94, or any other immigration documentation you may have.
This step is especially important if you currently hold an F-1 student visa and will need us to transfer your current SEVIS record to IUPUC.
If you are a US citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee then you should apply as a beginning freshman.
2g. Copy of your Passport ID page
In order to make sure we have the correct spelling and format of your name on any immigration documentation we issue you, please complete the “Submit a copy of your Passport ID Page” form on iStart.
2h. Receiving your admissions decision
After you submit your academic records and you have been admitted to IUPUC, you will get an acceptance letter in the mail. You can access the letter about your admission status in iStart.
If your government requires academic admission before you can get your other required documents (such as your financial documentation), you can use your Academically Eligible Letter to get those documents.
If you have not submitted your financial documentation, Financial Support Agreement, and proof of English proficiency, you should submit them now.
Also, be sure to check your email on a regular basis. We will email you if we need any additional documentation or if we have any other instructions for you.
2i. Submit your SEVIS transfer form (English language or high school only)
You will need to transfer your SEVIS record to IUPUC if you are currently on a student visa (F1) and are studying at a U.S. institution.
Log onto iStart and follow instructions for filling out and submitting the SEVIS Transfer Request Form.
Here are a couple things you can do while you wait for an admissions decision!
1. Make changes to your application
To make changes to your submitted application, please email email@example.com and the changes you need made. An admissions staff member will respond with any additional steps we need you to take.
2. Check the status of your application

3. Meet your liasion
To get all your questions answered and to learn more about IUPUC, we recommend you schedule a time to meet with the International Student Liasion, Diana Montes.
5. Cancel your application
If you wish to cancel your application for any reason, please call the Office of Admissions at (812) 348-7317 or email email@example.com and include your name and date of birth.
If you have already registered for courses and no longer wish to attend IUPUC, you will need to follow the steps on the Office of Registrar’s website to withdraw and avoid any fees or tuition charges.
