Minor in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

Pursuing a minor in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies can be useful if you seek a career in fields that focus on concerns of women, such as business, education, nursing, psychology, or sociology.

This minor is also beneficial if you plan to pursue graduate study and earn a master’s or Ph.D. degree in specialized fields like business, law, or medicine.

You will examine societal norms like gender, race, and class as well as the dynamic, fluid definitions of masculinity and femininity and the gendered institutions that we inhabit.

Requirements

To minor in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at IU Columbus, you must successfully complete 16 credit hours in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies courses with a minimum grade of C in each course.

Required courses:

  • W105 Introduction to Women’s Studies; W499 Senior Colloquium in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; and 12 credits in gender studies and/or cross listed classes (i.e., those in the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, etc.).
