Donor-funded scholarships are financial awards made possible through the generous contributions of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations who want to support students like you. These scholarships are designed to help cover the cost of your education and are often based on things like academic achievement, community involvement, financial need, or specific field of study. Indiana University makes it easy to apply by providing a single form that you fill out each year, and then IU will notify you of any donor-funded scholarships for which you are eligible. In some cases, you might need to provide additional information such as an essay.Always remember, if you have any questions at any point, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is ready to help!How to Apply for Donor-Funded Scholarships

Donor-Funded Scholarships need to be applied to annually. Applications open September 1st and close February 15th each year.To apply for scholarships, open your browser and navigate to one.iu.edu. Type scholarships into the search box and press return, then select IU scholarships. You will need to log in using your IU username and password.Once you apply, you may be matched with some scholarships automatically while others will ask you to provide more information.You can check your email and the Opportunities tab regularly for recommended scholarships that need extra steps. If you are awarded any scholarships, you will be notified in the late spring through email to accept your scholarship. Apply as early as possible, and don’t forget—you need to reapply every year to stay eligible for renewal. And if you have any questions please reach out to the Financial Aid office.After You Apply

The email will contain instructions on how to formally accept the scholarship.Additionally, you might receive emails about scholarships you’re eligible for that need extra information. Be sure to submit that information as soon as possible.You can also check the Opportunities tab for your "Recommended Opportunities” at any time. When reviewing recommended opportunities, be sure to read the scholarship details carefully to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements and complete any extra information required for the individual scholarship.Questions? Accepting Your Donor-Funded Scholarships

After receiving an email awarding you the scholarship, the last step in the process is to formally accept it.Follow the instructions provided in email and accept your award as soon as possible so the funds can be applied to your bursar account before fall classes begin.Need help or have questions?
