Over the course of my 30+ year career as a geography professor, I have taught across the subfields of human geography as well as cartography and geographic information systems (GIS). My research has contributed to faculty development, GIS, historical geography, political geography, cultural geography, environmental impact analysis, Appalachian studies, U.S. – Mexico Borderlands studies, and urban geography. It appears in a variety of outlets including Applied Geography, Geographical Review, Journal of Cultural Geography, Journal of Geography, Journal of Working Class Studies, The Professional Geographer, and The Southeastern Geographer. I also conduct community-based geo-demographic research as a Columbus Community Education Coalition CivicLab Fellow. I have chaired the IU Columbus (IUC) Division of Liberal Arts since 2013. Previously, I chaired IUC's Division of Science (2013-16) and Concord University's Division of Social Sciences (2005-08) and served as Concord's Associate Academic Dean from 2009 to 2013.
